Christine used to be a hair and makeup artist in LA, working with movie stars. (She was telling me, as she got dressed for her wedding, how she used to have to ‘dress down’ in overalls and tennis shoes when working on starlets, so they didn’t feel any competition from Christine….) When she called me to book her wedding photography, she was so excited to have found me. “I was just about to hire a photographer from LA, because I couldn’t find anyone up here who ‘gets it’ in terms of telling a great wedding story!” she told me. I was happy to save her the trouble.
And it was a fun wedding story to tell. The whole day was set in downtown Portland, on a clear, chilly December day. We moved around downtown photographing the wedding party getting ready at Hotel Lucia, then over to Portland’s First Baptist Church where Christine’s sister performed the ceremony, and then to the elegant Treasury Ballroom for the wedding reception.
And yes, Gretchen brought along the PhotoBooth, and all the guests had a great time hamming it up for the camera!
