Kevin & Ashley’s Wedding at the Abernethy Center Veiled Garden

We had such a wonderful time photographing Ashley and Kevin’s wedding at Abernethy Center this summer. Everyone enjoyed the night alongside the smiling couple. From the groovy jams to the take-home s’mores, every detail was perfect. We asked the happy couple some questions about their day, and here’s what they shared with us:

What was your favorite moment of your wedding?

The first look. We were both super excited to finally see each other and share that intimate moment together.

What was the funniest thing that happened at your wedding?

The funniest thing was after our first look, Kevin was supposed to give Ashley a necklace, the necklace she would wear on their special day. Kevin had forgotten it! But luckily it was just a phone call away, with his brother running it over!

What was your favorite detail from your wedding?

Our favorite details (and seemingly everyone else’s, as well) were the ones we made:

The string art of our home states on a backdrop of reclaimed barn wood

A wood wall backdrop for our sweetheart table made of the same reclaimed barn wood

An antique window hanging in an arbor we made as the seating chart (the arbor was made of the same reclaimed wood)

The table numbers made from local black walnut from a saw mill outside Gaston, OR

The unplugged wedding sign, which turned out much better than expected.

The reclaimed barn wood was actually nearly all from the same barn outside Bend, OR, and was purchased from Barnwood Boyz in Vancouver, WA (to the point where maybe they should be considered a vendor for us).

Is there anything else that you’d like to share?

We really enjoyed working with the photographers, and they made the process of taking so many pictures a lot of fun. As they put it, they never had to ask us to fake laugh, because we were just having so much fun.
