The Color of Indian Weddings: Parinda and Robin * Portland Indian Wedding Photographer

How Parinda and Robin were able to fit all of their wedding events into one day I have no idea, but they did it flawlessly.  I had the privilege of spending the day with Parinda, starting with her first round of hair and makeup at 9:00am for the Catholic ceremony. They were married in a beautiful old Catholic church.

After the ceremony everyone went back to the hotel to get ready for the Hindu ceremony, which took place outside.  Parinda changed into her colorful sari, put on many layers of jewelry, and had her hair and makeup redone.  Each piece of jewelry she wore held a significant meaning derived from a combination of culture, superstition, and religion.  They had a traditional Hindu ceremony. I love all of the colors in Indian weddings!

After the ceremony and cocktail hour the real party began.  There wasn’t a dull moment in this reception.  Many of their friends and family performed by singing and dancing for Parinda and Robin.  Parinda surprised her guests by joining her bridesmaids in a choreographed dance routine.  After a few minutes the groomsmen joined the performance.  We all thought they were performing for Robin, until he joined in.  The guests were very surprised!  Robin also surprised Parinda by singing a love song to her while his best man played the guitar.  Parinda was so overjoyed she started crying.  I love witnessing these moments!  After dinner the dance floor filled up and guest continued partying past midnight.  Congratulations to a lovely couple!
