I place a lot of importance on building a rapport with the couples I photograph during our first consultation. Being able to do that is an important aspect of being a wedding photographer. However, I don’t always have the opportunity to meet every couple in person before their wedding, which means that it’s necessary for me to build that rapport on the spot at their wedding. That was the case with Karly and Robert, who were married this July at Zenith Vineyard in Salem.
Before their wedding, I had limited communication with them because they live in South Korea where they teach English. They actually met for the first time while teaching at the same university, and Robert later proposed to Karly when he surprised her at her apartment with a home-cooked pasta dinner. It just so happens that I also taught English in South Korea for a year and a half about seven years ago. So I was very excited to chat with them about their experiences. It was the perfect way to break the ice, and they quickly settled into the photo shoot with ease.
