Golden Hour Senior Session at Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge

Some photo sessions feel like closing a circle, and this one was exactly that. I’ve known Angel since she was just five years old. To see her now, poised on the edge of adulthood, was both heartwarming and a little surreal.

When we met at Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge, the late summer sun was already beginning to pour its golden light over the tall grasses and winding trails. Angel was a little nervous about being in front of the camera, which is a perfectly normal feeling! But with years of photographing seniors, I was able to guide her through those first few moments, helping her relax, laugh, and truly enjoy the process. Before long, she was glowing in more ways than one.

We wandered the trails together, stopping where the light kissed the meadow just right or where the river shimmered like molten gold. Angel’s personality shone through, and every frame felt like it captured both her beauty and her spirit.

This wasn’t just a senior photo shoot; it was a celebration of the young woman Angel has become, overcoming so many challenges in her life, and the exciting path ahead of her.
As the sun slipped away and the crickets began their evening chorus, I knew we had created something more than portraits — we had captured memories of a golden evening, and a milestone moment in her life.

  1. What a magical senior session! The way the golden hour light filters through the wetlands and backlights the natural surroundings brings such warmth and serenity to the portraits.
I love how you guided your subject so naturally—you captured those genuine moments of laughter and ease that make the session feel both personal and cinematic.
Thank you for reminding us of the beauty in simplicity: just a moment, the right light, and a connection. Stunning work!
