The wedding photos in today’s blog post are the culmination of a love story long in the making, which began when Gabriela moved to New Mexico in the 5th grade and met Ben for the first time. Quickly smitten with Gabriela, Ben, along with his friends, used to follow Gabriela home from school and try to convince her to go out with him, After much persistence he was eventually successful when the two of them began dating their freshman year in high school. Since then they’ve been inseparable.
Aside from getting to spend the day with this lovely couple, my favorite part of their wedding was photographing a very special event during the reception. Ben’s parents led the newlyweds and all of their guests in the New Mexican tradition of La Marcha, a mini parade of sorts, around the meadow next to Blackberry Hall at McMenamin’s Edgefield. At the end of the march, the guests formed a giant tunnel that Ben and Gabriela ran through while everyone cheered and smiled. It was so much fun that quite frankly I think Oregonians should start making it a tradition at every wedding!
