Anteaters and Rabbits and Rhinos, Oh My!

I was thoroughly delighted to be contacted by Imago Theatre, to photograph some of their fantastic actors and costumes.  Jerry Mouawad and his team are well known for their wonderful physical theatre productions.  In fact, Shannon and I have a favorite memory, at Frogz, of one of the Orbs stealing her shoe.  It ends with her rolling on the stage floor, attacked by another Orb.  I guess that’s one of my favorite memories, not hers.

It was a real delight to work with Jerry and 5 of his actors in the studio.  It’s always enjoyable to me to work with other creative professionals to create something wonderful.  And the resulting images of the Anteaters, Rhinos, Rabbits, and Penguins show it.

If you’ve never been to a performance at Imago, I highly recommend it.  They have regular shows at their theater here in Portland, and they travel to New York and elsewhere often enough.  As their website explains:

Imago’s work has been seen on television and on several continents during extensive tours to Europe, Asia, and throughout North America. In 2001 Imago’s FROGZ completed a two-week run on Broadway, and returned to the acclaimed New Victory Theater for a four-week run in May 2002. Two Imago productions, FROGZ and No Exit, presented extended runs at the Tony Award-winning American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 2005-2006.
