Andrea and Jack, the bride and groom of a lovely wedding in Milwaukie, Oregon, contacted us about a month and a half ahead of their wedding date. They had gotten engaged in New Zealand a month or so prior and were eager to tie the knot because Jack would be leaving soon for a lengthy work obligation.
Their ceremony and reception took place at Milwaukie Kitchen And Wine, a relatively new restaurant, which has a very interesting vibe. It’s a mix between a deli, coffee shop, restaurant and cooking school, and the chef is known for whipping up to-die-for dishes. Typical Portland.
The day I scouted the surrounding area, I planned on shooting the first look and bridal party photos at the nearby Waldorf School. As the date drew nearer, however, the weather forecast predicated a seventy percent chance of heavy rain! Oh no! This did not bode well because orchestrating the photos in the small restaurant would prove especially difficult amid setting up the decorations and guests arriving. As a fallback, I told Jack to bring umbrellas should we have to brave the elements. But fortunately we didn’t have to use them. Just before they arrived the slight drizzle that had settled in ceased, and everything went exactly as planned, from the beautiful decorations down to the wonderful ceremony and reception. I hope you enjoy this preview of their wedding!
